Music Technology Art Composition Project
There are many similarities between compositional techniques across the humanities spectrum. This project will allow us to explore comopotional mediums that link visual art and auditory art, drawing and music. This project will consist of multiple parts. The first of which being an introduction to musical composition tools. In regards to our class, the compositional tools that are relevant consist of a pluricentric mix of the following: form, layering/instrumentation, chords, progressions, scales, ostinatos and rhythm. These are the primary tools we will be using to mimic through soundscape our chosen visual artworks. The second step to this project is an exploration of the fusion that may exist between visual and auditory compositional tools. We will elaborate on our understanding of these tools as they pertain to themselves in context of your chosen piece of art and, as an extension, as they relate to each other. Finally, we will begin the composition process. Due to the depth of this project we will benefit from an extended window of time to complete our work. At the conclusion of this project our work may be transcribed into the visual art medium using the perceived compositional tools our pieces convey to the listener.
