Martin Luther King Jr’s dream was for everyone to be equal; young or old, rich or poor, and every race alike. He wanted everyone to be respected and respectful. He saw injustice and wanted to do something about it. He knew he couldn’t complete this on his own. He dreamed of a world where people could achieve anything and the only boundary would be your own mind.
I learned that people can be unified. Not only do we need laws to help diversify the world, we also need to take in the fact that this is the new. Kind of like education, where the teacher will provide you an education, you also have to take ownership of your education. I also learned that even though in times of hate and discrimination, people find a way to unify themselves. When you set your mind to something, it can and will be achieved. Dr.King Jr said, “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal” shows that we need to practice what we preach. If ‘all men are created equal’, then we need to stop segregating ourselves.
Even though hate and racism still exists today, Martin Luther King Jr’s dream has unified us as a nation. Through peaceful protests, we learned to stand together and fight for what believe in. Because of his dream, society has come together in hopes for a better future.
