Learning Support teachers

My name is Elena Amos. I worked in various communities on Vancouver Island, including Port Alice, Port McNeill, Sooke and the Cowichan Valley before Island Catholic Schools became my school community in 2002. I have been blessed to work with Primary aged students from Kindergarten to Grade Three throughout my years in ICS. In 2018 I moved from Grade One to Learning Support, and have been the Learning Support Services Coordinator at St. Patrick's Elementary since. My role includes supporting students and their families with assessment information, bringing in consultants as needed, and facilitating collaboration and communication amongst the team that works with our Inclusive Ed students. I also work in reading intervention with our early readers. I am a huge fan of children's literature, particularly books which help reinforce concepts of growth mindset, social and emotional learning, truth & reconciliation, and friendship. Throughout the website, I have added resources for children and families including children's texts wherever possible.

My name is Victoria Honour Reid. I have worked as an Elementary and Middle School Teacher, and SEA, in Saanich and Victoria since 2001. In 2020, I became the Intermediate Learning Support Teacher here at St. Patrick's Elementary School. I work with students who need extra support with math, reading, and writing. I have training in the Lindamood-Bell "Seeing Stars" and "Visualizing & Verbalizing" programs.

I never take for granted the unique opportunity I have been awarded in being able to make meaningful connections with each of my students. Working in small groups, or one to one, allows me to cater my teaching style, and lessons, to best meet the individual needs of my students.

We are honoured to live, work and play on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen people. We acknowledge and respect the Songees, Esquimalt and Wsáneć peoples, whose historical relationship with the land continue to this day.
