Communication Boards

Communication boards are designed with inclusion in mind. They help children access some of the most common words that we use when communicating, also called "core" words. Core words can be combined to create many different novel phrases, and include pronouns, question words, action and feeling words, location words, words related to the playground and field, and language for social interactions.

We had our communication boards printed at https://www.thesignpad.com/ here in Victoria. We acknowledge and thank SD62's Communication Board Project for their generosity in sharing the design. These supersized outdoor communication boards (48" x 74") were created with the goal of providing accessible communication and social language opportunities for all children and families who use the playground. The project expanded to include indoor communication boards as well; you will find one in the hallway of our primary wing.
