Senegal Project - Itinerary

Note 1: Please keep in mind that there might still be changes occurring to this itinerary. 

Note 2: The donations raised by the students will go towards one of Les Cajoutiers's project. The project we will contribute to will depend on the amount of funds raised by CIS. Currently Les Cajoutiers is hoping to raise enough fund for the relocation of their boarding house. If that is successful, our students will help working on the refurbishment of the building into a boarding house. 

Note 3: The Sustainable Service Project we will be involved in may be adjusted in accordance to the strengths of the students on the trip.

Day 0 - Thursday October 9 - Departure

Meet at HKG airport at 21.30 

Day 1 - Friday, October 10 - Arrival in Senegal

Hong Kong - Warang

Flight departure at 00.30 (Meet at the airport on Thursday night). Arrive in Dakar at 16.35 local time. Transfer by bus to Warang for our first night in Senegal. Full briefing to discuss the days ahead, and early night. 

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch on the plane. Dinner provided at the hotel. 

Transport: plane and bus

Accommodation for the week: Le Kenkeni -Warang.

Day 2 - Saturday, October 11 - Exploring of Warang

Morning: Walking visit of the village of Warang and visit of the boarding school for the deaf children. 

Afternoon: Games on the beach with the deaf students from the boarding school. (CIS students to organise games)

Transport: By foot and horse cart 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided at the hotel.

Day 3 - Sunday, October 12 - Understanding Senegal

Morning: Visit of the Gorée Island (Slaves Island) and the old prison, learning about the history of the country. Driving through Dakar city center. Lunch on Gorée Island. 

Afternoon: Visit of the Turtle Village - located in a special botanical reserve, this repopulation centre aims to protect the species and prevent their disappearance.

Transport: Bus 

Meals: Breakfast, and Dinner provided at the hotel. Restaurant lunch on Gorée Island. 

Day 4 - Monday , October 13 - Discovery of the school

Morning: First morning in the school, Flag raising ceremony. Visit of the school.

Option to relax by the pool during the lunchtime break.

Afternoon: Guided visit of the town of Mbour- a glimpse into local african life. 

Transport: Horse cart and bus

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided at the hotel.

Day 5 - Tuesday, October 14 - Project launch

Morning: Morning in the school working on the service project and activities in partnership with the students of the Inclusive section (EISEC). 

Option to relax by the pool during the lunchtime break.

Afternoon: Safari at the Animal Reserve Bandia: Discovery of the local wildlife, reinforcing the importance of taking care of our planet.

Transport: Horse cart and bus

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided.

Day 6 - Wednesday, October 15 - Project day

Morning:  Morning in the school working on the service project and activities in partnership with the students of the inclusive school. 

Option to relax by the pool during the lunchtime break.

Afternoon: Part 2 of the Service project /  Raising awareness on Sustainability issues and Beach cleaning with the older students from the boarding house. 

Transport: Horse cart 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided at the hotel.

Day 7 - Thursday, October 16 - Finalising the Project

Morning: Morning in the school to continue working on the service project. 

Option to relax by the pool during the lunchtime break.

Afternoon:  Visit by cart to Gandiol, a Sérère village - a visit to understand life in remote parts of the world, their community, their daily life and their beliefs. Visit of the nomadic Peul village (if they are in the area) to learn about their daily life. 

Evening: Dance and traditional music show at the hotel.

Transport: Horse cart 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided at the hotel.

Day 8 - Friday, October 17 - Last Day and Project Finale

Morning: Last morning in the school to say goodbye. End of the project. 

Afternoon: Packing and transfer to Dakar airport for take-off at 18.15.

Transport: Horse cart and bus

Meals: Breakfast, and Lunch provided at the hotel. Dinner on the plane.

Day 9 - Saturday, October 18 - Home-bound 

Arrival in Hong Kong at 21.55

Dismissal in the arrival Hall of HKG airport (after customs). 

Transport: Plane 

In-flight meals provided.
