"Several years ago, a photo was shared with me of a school that had their glass windows covered with silhouettes of leaders in history. As with many seeds of ideas, I filed it away and time went on. As I am coming to the end of my career here at Croton, I started thinking about the legacy I might leave behind and the silhouettes once again came to mind.
I began to think about how to create this impactful mural for our students. I have spent the last year creating these silhouettes of people throughout history from all over the world - pioneers who in their unwavering spirit and unrelenting perseverance have impacted history for the better. This mural has been my passion project and I am very proud to now share this vision with all who pass through Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School’s Corridor of Courage.
Thank you to Nichole Kelly, Michael Plotkin, and Sarah Wellman for seeing the importance of this project and collaborating with me on deciding which inspirational persons should be honored by this mural. Now, I am excited to pass on this project to our student body as they decide on who should be added to the mural. Next time you’re lucky enough to be in this wonderful building, please make time to appreciate these individuals and allow them to inspire you."
