9th September, 2019 - one of Mrs Shallcross's favourite books
Things are getting better (honestly)
'An assault on both ignorance and pessimism' - The Times
'A hopeful book about the potential for human progress when we work off facts rather than our inherent biases' - Barack Obama
'One of the most important books I've ever read - an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world' - Bill Gates
'A celebration of human progress' - Sunday Telegraph
Negative stories sell newspapers. Very rarely are we informed of the positives, the vast improvements that have been made in terms of poverty, education, access to water. As such we are all very ignorant about the world in which we live. Hans Rosling, a Swedish statistician, uses data to correct our ignorance. He makes data accessible and easy to understand. This book is a must read for everyone. A copy should be on every book shelf in every house.
