Many of you will be missing the active performance elements of Drama lessons so we would love you to continue to have a go at some performance challenges.
Get your family involved!
Set yourself an individual performance challenge.
Or collaborate with a friend and perform something together using Google Meet video conferencing
There are some ideas below but be imaginative and see what other ideas you can come up with.
Watch this video of stunt actors 'fighting themselves'. You could do this on your own, or preferably with a few of your friends or family.
Put together (try using iMovie?) a sequence of video clips of you and your friends or family REACTING to a 'punch', 'kick', 'push' or 'hit' and then send one back. Plan it out with your friends so you know what sort of 'weapon' or strike you are going to react to.
Then add an exciting music sound track, or even sound effects or special effects.
Use the ones you can remember from your lessons or use the website (left) to learn some new ones.
Who is the 'Splat!' champion of your house?
Or perhaps you could try the '1-10' concentration game on Google Meet with a group of your friends?
Don't forget to take a photo or video to use as evidence!
Can you now use the tongue twisters above and try and do them in different accents?
Have a go at a Liverpudlian (Scouse) accent? Or Cockney? Or what about Geordie (Newcastle), or Welsh? Maybe you can try Irish or New York? Or Received Pronunciation (really posh!)?
There are lots of videos on YouTube which can help you with accents so have a go!
This is something that you can do on your own!
Choose a song which you know the lyrics of REALLY well and then perform it as a dramatic monologue. Watch the example on the left.
There are lots of improvisation games that you can play which require you to think on your feet. In general, you need at least one other person to play these with so grab the rest of your family or work out which ones could be done online with friends.
There are some examples below, but also the website in the Drama Games section has some improvisation game ideas.
Freezetag
Fortunately/ Unfortunately
The Chair Game
This is a more challenging task but brilliant to do if you have a willing partner at home. The YouTube video gives very clear instructions.
Try putting your finished piece of work to different pieces of music. Don't forget to video it!
This is how to do a simple AND SAFE stage punch. Make sure you're in a space where you've got plenty of room when you practice this.
See if you and your partner can put together a very short sequence of punches
