There is no doubt that going to the theatre is the best way of developing your knowledge and appreciation of Drama and Theatre. We are very lucky to be surrounded by excellent theatres that put on a huge choice of plays and musicals of various styles and genres. Here are some of our favourite theatres to visit.

In Manchester

Royal Exchange, Manchester

This is an innovative 'in-the-round' theatre within one of Manchester's finest historical buildings. The theatre is a 'producing house' meaning it puts on its own productions. These cater to a wide range of tastes and vary from classical dramas, comedies, musicals and innovative modern plays.As well as the main theatre space there is also a Studio which puts on small scale productions which can be an excellent introduction to experimental theatre. www.royalexchange.co.uk/

The Lowry Centre, Salford Quays

This fantastic theatre built in the late 1990's opposite Media City has two main theatre spaces and a smaller studio (as well as an Art Gallery, restaurants, bars) and is well worth a visit.It is a 'receiving house' which means that productions that are touring round the country (or round the world) are put on here. Home, Manchester

This new theatre is just off Whitworth St and is the new home of the previous Library Theatre and the Cornerhouse Cinema & Gallery.
There is a main theatre and two smaller studio theatres. 'Home' is both a 'producing and a receiving house' meaning that it puts on some of it's own productions as well as showing some productions from well-known theatre companies that are touring.
