Graduation Requirements
Graduation Requirements
For students entering grade nine (9) on or after the first day of the 2022-2023 academic year
English 1 or Pre-AP English 1
English 2 or Pre-AP English 2
English credit aligned to the student's ILP - Students may choose from the following courses: English 3, AP Language and Composition, or HCC - ENG 101.
English credit aligned to the student's ILP - Students may choose from the following courses: English 4, AP Literature, HCC - ENG 101 (if not taken for Junior English ), or HCC - ENG 161 (prerequisite is AP Language and Composition or HCC - ENG 101).
Geography or Human Geography or Pre-AP World History and Geography
World History or AP World History: Modern
U.S. History: 1877 - Present or AP U.S. History LIST DUAL CREDIT OPTION
Algebra 1 or Pre-AP Algebra 1
Geometry or Pre-AP Geometry with Statistics
Algebra 2 or math elective aligned to the student's ILP.*
Math elective aligned to the student's ILP.*
*The third and/or fourth math credit must include all Algebra 2 standards.
Earth Space Science or Pre-AP Earth Space Science
Biology I or Pre-AP Biology
Intro. to Chemistry & Physics or Pre-AP Chemistry or Chemistry I
Two (2) credits must incorporate lab-based scientific investigation experiences plus one (1) credit aligned to the student's ILP.
Health Education (1/2 credit)
Physical Education I (1/2 credit)
Army Junior ROTC 1 (1 credit) fulfills the Physical Education (1/2 credit) graduation requirement.
Any one-credit high school course from the list of visual arts, music, and/or theatre will meet the VPA requirement. Dual credit courses must meet the high school definition of visual and performing arts to meet the VPA requirement.
Eleven (11) credits total (including four (4) standards-based credits in an academic or career interest based on the student's ILP)
Technology - Demonstrated performance-based competency
Civics Exam - A minimum score of sixty percent (60%) on a civics test, made up of one hundred (100) questions
Individual Learning Plan (ILP) - Complete an ILP that focuses on career exploration and related postsecondary education and training needs
Financial Literacy - One (1) or more courses or programs that meet the financial literacy requirements pursuant to KRS 158.1411.
