meet the team
We aim to provide the best learning experience for our children in Pathways. We have an extremely dedicated staff that are greatly committed to helping our children to achieve their full potential.
The ARP staff structure includes the Head of ARP, Assistant Head of ARP, teaching staff, High Level Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistants trained in autism specific strategies and programmes, Mealtime Supervisors and a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and Educational Psychologist based externally. The school governing body includes a governor with responsibility for overseeing the ARPs. External professionals who contribute to the work of the provision include the Barnet Lead Autism Advisory Teacher. An Occupational Therapist is also assigned to each ARP and will support children whose EHCPs specify an Occupational Therapy input.
Each year, all school staff receive an ongoing autism specific training delivered by the Autism Advisory Team professionals. The Head of ARP works closely with the School Inclusion Team, the Lead Autism Advisory Teacher and the Educational Psychology Team to design a personalised training for both schools, based on joint observations and feedback meetings. This might include additional INSET days as and when the need arises. In addition, a more personalised training is delivered by the Head of ARP on specific strategies and approaches related to the school’s development plan and current cohort of children in Pathways.
All teachers in Pathways have Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) and are trained in Attention Autism, SCERTS assessment, Structured Teaching and Team Teach. There are clear internal mechanisms to access advice and training for staff to support their work with autistic children in the ARPs and across the school. Teachers and teaching assistants attend regular training commissioned by the Local Authority and delivered by the Speech and Language, Educational Psychology, Autism Advisory Team and Occupational Therapy departments.
