Just like the technology world itself, Cherry Creek Schools seems to undergo a metamorphosis on a constant basis.
Through district resources and generous donations from community members, Willow Creek currently has a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks and/or laptop devices for all students in grades K through 5. These devices will stay with students through a 4 year cycle. For fifth graders, they will receive a brand new laptop this year and it stays with them through middle school as long as they stay in Cherry Creek, otherwise it has to be returned. When they enter ninth grade in high school, they receive a new one.
The important thing to know is that regardless of what type of technology device is used at school or at home, it should not be an issue any more. Most of what we do in class and will require at home involves the use of web-based applications. Students should be able to access all district resources through the MyCherryCreek portal.
From MyCherryCreek, students can access email, Google Classroom, Google Drive and other learning management systems and apps. They can access all of these apps at school and at home in the same way. This is major step forward in streamlining access for students...and a welcome change for teachers!!
There is one other resource available to Willow Creek students. This is an excellent "learn to type" program to help students with their keyboarding skills. Because of a heavy focus in fifth grade on word processing, typing skills are a must to become more efficient at these tasks. This document contains instructions for downloading the program at home.
