1st Quarter Reflection:   10/26

I loved the variety of things our class got to learn this quarter. From how to use the most basic of tools, and create shapes with them, to animating and creating our own worlds.

I started the following projects:

The Design Portfolio eliminated any sort of intimidation from Maya we had and allowed us to jump into the fun stuff, while simultaneously teaching us key skills. In combination with all of the information I’d gathered from the previous semester and our intro to 3D class, I had the opportunity to put into practice many different aspects of animation, cinematography, and film-making.

Our in-class exercises covered a wide range of 3D. There was something for everybody. From modeling and topology, to rigging and animating, we had the chance to find what we liked doing and pursue it. The support from tutors and upperclassmen further encouraged us to keep learning and exploring. Some of the most valuable information I’ve learned has either been from these individuals or all of the errors that have popped up. Even troubleshooting turned from confusion to room for exploration and development.

Excluding all of the bumps along the way and general things outside of our control, this academic year was very important and helpful to our development. Design Portfolio is where it all came together, both 3D Design and 2D Design intertwined beautifully and we were able to implement everything we learned through out the previous years. Everybody who’s taken advantage of the resources available to them has seen exponential growth, including myself.  I can only hope for this momentum to continue in the upcoming year.  I’m very thrilled to see all of the opportunities and challenges we’ll face in the future.
