The US Federal Service Academies include
United States Military Academy, West Point, New York
United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland
United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado
United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut
United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York
Each Academy has its own application process and requirements, but all require a nomination from an authorized source (often a representative from your state). Be sure to research requirements and deadlines if you are considering a Federal Service Military Academy.
August 10, 2026 information from Senator Ted Budd:
Our office is now accepting applications from students seeking a congressional nomination to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Please note that this year's application deadline is October 1, which is earlier than in previous years. We encourage students to begin preparing their application materials as soon as possible to ensure they have ample time to complete all requirements before the deadline. More information about the nomination process and a link to the nomination application can be found on Senator Budd’s website under the Student Resources section.
Senator Budd will also be hosting a Service Academy Day on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Rittling Conference Center in Thomasville, NC. This event will provide high school students across North Carolina with the opportunity to learn about the nomination process and eligibility requirements for the United States Military Service Academies. Members of Senator Budd’s Nomination Board and representatives from the academies will be available to answer questions and provide informational materials. Students can RSVP for this event HERE.
