On Tuesday, Hannah Delamain’s Year Eight class were making bread in Food Technology. They were all working hard in the heat, mixing the ingredients, making dough and letting it settle before baking bread buns. They looked, smelled and tasted amazing. Well done, Year Eight, for an enjoyable and edible lesson.

The Step into the NHS competition introduces students to more than 350 NHS careers, inspiring and motivating them to fulfil their potential, whatever their interests and skills. KS3 pupils are challenged to create a job advertisement showcasing one NHS role of their choice. The advert must highlight the key responsibilities of the role, as well as any relevant qualifications, skills, and experience. Year 7 and 8 Chauncy students have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the competition as part of their art homework. They have been fascinated to discover some of the lesser-known NHS roles, including falconry, emergency medical dispatcher, clinical coder, and many more. Students have produced a wide range of creative outcomes, including sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, and video entries.

This week our Year 8 & 9 students had an exciting opportunity to experience the working world. They spent a day learning about different careers and taking on a variety of tasks, gaining valuable insights into what their future could hold.
A huge thank you to all those who made these placements possible. Your support is giving our students a glimpse into life beyond the classroom - and in many cases, helping them discover what they might (or might not) want to do in the future.

Chauncy students were challenged to create a design for the electrical cabinets around Ware, using any materials they wanted, in response to a competition set by local artist Donna Reeves.
Donna is a professional artist and the founder and owner of “& by Donna Reeves”, an art studio and shop in Ware, Hertfordshire, that has become a creative hub for the community.
This project proposes transforming the unsightly electrical cabinets in the local area into vibrant community artworks. The idea is to paint and decorate eight cabinets, turning them into inspiring features that celebrate local identity.
Students will be able to see the influence their work has had on Donna's designs around Ware later this year, when Donna has completed the project.
Congratulations to the competition winners and to those whose designs were chosen. Donna was incredibly impressed by all that she saw. Well done to everyone who entered this exciting competition.
