Watch the videos below for a refresher on the music staff
Watch this fun video of a parody of Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” but its TREBLE!
The music staff is made up of 5 lines and 4 spaces. We make up sentences or words to help us remember the names of the lines and spaces in order.
Draw out a music staff by making 5 horizontal (sideways) lines on a piece of paper. Using the video as a guide, start on the bottom of the staff and write your own sentence to remember the names of the lines. Can you come up with a new sentence using the letters E - G - B - D - F?

Go to this website and play the game, “Note Names.” Be sure to enable the flash player so you can play the game!
Each group of notes makes words!
Can you make your own? Draw a music staff on a piece of paper, and draw dots on lines and spaces to create your own words. If you’d like to share your work, take a picture and email it to your teacher (email addresses listed above).
REMEMBER: When you draw your dots, make sure you’re putting it right in the middle of the space or right through the middle of the line so we can tell what note you’re using!
Check out the video, Treble Clef, Stave and Pitch to give you some pointers on drawing your dots (notes) the correct way on the music staff!
Enrichment: Something else you could do is put some masking tape on the floor to make 5 straight lines, like a staff! Have a parent/grandparent/sibling call out note names and you try to jump to the space! They could even name more than one and you can use both feet. You could also cut out “notes” with paper and place them on the lines.
If you do this, video it or take picture and send it to me! HAVE FUN!!
