The Friends of the Chagrin Falls Branch Library volunteer their time and energy to raise funds in support of Library staff, programming, beautification, exhibitions, and special events. We partner with Cuyahoga County Public Library to make our branch a community hub for reading, learning, creating and connecting.
In recent years we have provided the Library:
“Letter Bird” art by local artist Pam Spremulli in the children’s room
License to show recent Hollywood releases for free at the Library
Educational toys that certify our library as a "Children's Place" and rolling cabinets to store them in
Volunteer maintenance of the native plant gardens
Our board meetings are the second Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm at the Library. Please join us! If you would like to join the Friends, help with book sales or donate books, please email ChagrinFriends@gmail.com or call the Library at 440-247-3556.
We will offer one scholarship of $2,000.00 to the writer of the best essay, chosen by our panel of judges.
ESSAY PROMPT
A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital access to material, and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both. (https://www.librarianshipstudies.com/2017/07/library.html?m=1) If you could build a library of anything, what kind of library would you create and why? What would it hold? Who would it serve? Your answer can be practical or fantastical.
