Summary: The webinar provided an introduction to the FAIR principles and their impact on Open Science and more broadly, the distribution and preservation of knowledge. Furthermore, were exhibited the technologies incorporated in GARDIAN that allow the quantification of conformance to the FAIR principles and thus promote awareness and facilitate self-assessment of data quality with respect to FAIRness. The webinar concluded with the presentation of a practical step-by-step guide for making publications and datasets more FAIR.
Presenter:
Dr. Pythagoras Karampiperis -CEO of SCiO P.C. and a Senior Adjunct Researcher at the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” in Greece. He is an expert on Big Data Analytics, Semantic Web Technologies, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Artificial Intelligence and has been involved in the conception, coordination and realization of more than 35 international and national projects, including the design and development of the CGIAR GARDIAN platform. He is the co-author of more than 70 publications in scientific books, journals and conferences with at least 1000 known citations (h-index: 14 / g-index: 24). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), the IEEE Technical Committee on Intelligent Informatics (TCII), of the IEEE Technical Committee on the Internet (TCI), the Hellenic Association of Artificial Intelligence (EETN), the Hellenic Association of Computer & Information Technology Scientists (GCS), and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).
