The Manufacturing, Production, and Green Technology (MPGT) Academy is a California Partnership Academy.
Partnership academies are small learning communities within larger high schools, enrolling students in grades 9-12.
Nationwide, studies demonstrate that participation in career academies is linked to positive outcomes in regard to students’ performance during and after high school.
The MPGT Academy is a 4-year program that offers students a well-rounded education that includes career preparation skills in addition to traditional college preparatory coursework. We are pleased to offer an advanced track for students looking to enter a collegiate Engineering program after graduation.
Each year students take classes together, including core academic subjects and at least one CTE class (career technical education). A team of teachers works with the same group of students over several years, over time linking instruction across disciplines.
Academy students participate in field trips to local manufacturers, college campus tours and team building exercises, as well as in extracurricular opportunities such as robotics tournaments and the Northern California Solar Regatta.
The MPGT Academy is excited to have our very own Youth Advisor who meets with each MPGT student at least once per quarter! This is an extra opportunity for students to discuss academic progress, future educational and career goals, and to receive additional Support.

Residential Solar Installation: Senior students work with Grid Alternatives, a non-profit solar company that provides training and opportunities for our students to install functioning solar energy systems on houses (including rooftop installations).
Solar Regatta: MPGT students also design, build and race solar powered boats in the annual SMUD Solar Regatta!
