The MPGT Academy partners with GRID Alternatives, a non-profit organization that provides solar technology to low-income houses, to provide work experience for Academy Seniors, installing solar panels over the course of two days at a local residence. Students help set up the skeletal framework for solar panels, as well as run conduit and "non-hot" wires. Students receive volunteer hours for their time and with enough hours, are eligible to be hired by GRID Alternatives.
Are you a MPGT Academy Senior and would like to participate in solar installs? Speak to Mr. Gillis, Mr. Vetter, or Marcel.
Are you a community member who is socioeconomically disadvantaged? Apply today to see if you are eligible for free solar panels to lower your energy by 80%!
Solar installs were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are working with GRID Alternatives to ensure our students will be able to participate for the 23-24 school year. Check back here for more information!
