The MPGT Academy staff has identified specific values and character traits that we wish to see MPGT Academy graduates exemplify when they leave Ceres High School. These values are taught and emphasized in Academy classes. Students demonstrating these values across all classes recieve a "Top Dog" award for the value of the month.
Click the drop-down arrow to view how these values are demonstrated by students in various settings.
Interact with peers in a positive manner while keeping negative comments to yourself. Have a positive attitude about assigned work. Accept correction/redirection graciously and conduct yourself in a professional way.
Make every interaction, a positive interaction.
Conduct yourself in a manner that is productive and conducive for others. Communicate consistently with others, giving meaningful feedback to your peers and teachers when prompted.
Find a way to fairly choose group roles and contribute equally when working in groups. Be fair in all decision making and project/assignment development.
Tell the truth, even about small things and take responsibility for your actions.
Do your own work. Discuss, don’t copy. Collaboration is not the same as copying! Do your best, even when you think no one is looking.
Posses a clear vision for what can be accomplished and work with others in an effective, efficient manner to achieve a goal. Do not be afraid to work with others who are more skilled than yourself and also be willing to listen, observe, and take feedback from others.
Be flexible in your approach and work on projects, while building up others to improve the quality of a project or program. Be visible, communicate often, and make your presence known in a positive manner.
Be grateful, be humble, be empathetic, and take responsibility.
During activities, think about what is being presented and ask meaningful questions that are on topic. Help others problem solve if an issue arises, while maintaining a respectful relationship.
Be resourceful and creative. Approach assignments/activities from different angles (think outside the box). Remember, there is always a way to improve and ask, how can I make this better?
Take charge and begin work without being prompted, acting as the role model for others to follow.
Instead of reacting, think about how you will respond before you act. Focus on solutions, rather than problems.
Know what your responsibilities are, be organized, and show up on time, prepared to work. Create & revise goals while maintaining a growth mindset.
Follow through and don't give up!
