Hello Everyone,
I hope the school year is going well. We have a free film/art event on November 16th for Native American Heritage Month at San Juan College and are trying to get the word out to high school students. Please share with any students or instructors who may be interested. The IATSE Local 480 will be at the college discussing career pathways into the industry along with Navajo TV and Film and the National Indian Youth Council.
This is a free community event with food, film, hoop dancing, Native American art market, talent show, basketball hoop raffles and Rez Ball screening introduced by actor Ryan Begay. The event starts at 1:30pm this Saturday. We will also have two films that were awarded grants from the Navajo Nation TV and Film (NNTVF) and Division of Diné Education (DODE). Composer Marcello De Francisci known for the Avatar & Mission Impossible III trailers, God of War video game music will be on campus taking about creating a soundtrack for a recent Ferrari film ((Michael Man film with Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz). DezBaa' writer, director and actor will discuss Dark Winds and storytelling.
