POP Fly-In Application Tips
Thursday, August 7 • 3-3:45 p.m. Pacific
Join us for an inside look at Perspectives on Pomona (POP), a fly-in opportunity to visit campus, connect with current students and faculty, and experience life as a Sagehen! In this webinar, we’ll walk you through the application process, eligibility requirements, program highlights, and how this visit can shape your college journey.
Greetings from Williamstown! I hope you received our digital postcard last month highlighting the 2025 Windows on Williams (WOW) application for your rising seniors. The WOW fly-in program provides about 150 high-achieving seniors a fully funded opportunity to visit campus and experience the Williams community. WOW is a selective program open to rising seniors in the U.S. and Puerto Rico; preference is given to high-achieving students who couldn't otherwise afford to visit Williams.
WOW participants stay in dorms with current students, attend classes, meet with professors, and learn about our admission process and extraordinary All-Grant financial aid program. There are two ways to apply:
Students may complete the full WOW application form, including a high school transcript (screenshots or pictures of the transcript are accepted) and an essay submitted for an English or social science class during the 2024-2025 academic school year.
Students who applied to the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars (CPS) program can re-use that application for WOW.
Please encourage your students to apply using this link by August 1, and feel free to contact us with any questions.
Thank you, as always, for all your help and partnership. I hope the rest of your semester goes smoothly!
Best wishes,
Carolina Echenique

WASHU FLI-IN PROGRAM
We'd love for your students to apply for our WashU FLI-In Program!
WashU FLI-In is a special small-group opportunity designed to introduce First-generation and Limited-Income students to the college application process and to WashU. During this three-day program, students will engage in deeper exploration of an academic area of interest (Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, or PreMed) while experiencing campus life and our vibrant community! We will cover the cost of their roundtrip travel to and from campus, along with housing and meals during their stay.
Attendees will:
Learn about the resources and support available to first-generation and limited-income students.
Spend three days (two nights) on our beautiful campus and get a taste of college life.
Explore St. Louis and take in some of our favorite sites.
Gain expert guidance on sharing their story as part of their college application.
Meet current students, accomplished alumni, and faculty leading in their fields.
WashU FLI-In Dates
Students should choose the program that best suits their academic interest on the application. For each program, they will travel to campus on the first day of the program and stay overnight the first two nights. On the third day, students will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students.
Business, June 25-27
Engineering, July 9-11
PreMed, July 16-18
Arts & Sciences, July 23-25
Eligibility
WashU FLI-In is an application-based program open to rising high school seniors (graduating in spring 2026) who reside in the U.S. or U.S. territories.

LET TACHINNI KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED
Greetings from Swarthmore College! We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
We are one of the nation’s top liberal arts and engineering colleges and would love to partner with you in promoting college access and affordability. We are reaching out to share that we are now accepting nominations for our all-expenses-paid fly-in program Discover Swarthmore, which could be an exciting opportunity for your students. Discover Swarthmore was designed to level the playing field for students who may not be able to visit our campus in person without financial assistance, or have other obstacles on their path to college. Nominations are due Sunday, June 15, 2025.
What is a fly-in program, and why should you nominate students?
Rising high school seniors stay on a college campus for a few days and get a taste of the college experience — meeting current students and professors, eating in the dining hall, and spending a few nights in college dorms with student hosts — with all expenses paid by Swarthmore.
Not only do students get a glimpse of college life, but they also gain valuable information about college admissions and financial aid from experts. Fly-in programs are also a helpful way to see if a specific college is the right fit for them.
Discover Swarthmore Nomination and Selection Criteria
While the Fall 2025 program dates have not yet been finalized, we typically offer two Discover Swarthmore programs, in mid-September and late October, to give students maximum flexibility. Last fall, our on-campus programs took place during the last weekends of September and October.
During our review, the selection committee prioritizes applications from students who are:
First generation in their family to attend college
Low-income students (Pell-eligible, free/reduced lunch, etc.), and students who might not otherwise be able to afford a trip to campus
Please nominate students who might be a good match for this opportunity by submitting our online nomination form by Sunday, June 15, 2025. You may nominate as many students as you wish, using one nomination form per student. We accept nominations from high school counselors, mentors, community-based organization advisors, teachers, and any person who works with a high-achieving student, so please share this information with your colleagues.
Next Steps
We contact all nominated students in May to let them know that they must complete the application in order to be considered. If a student chooses to apply and is accepted to the program, Swarthmore pays for round-trip airfare/train fare, housing, meals, and travel incidentals to attend.
Nominate a Student for Discover Swarthmore!
We appreciate all that you do to support students and hope you’ll nominate some of your top students for Discover Swarthmore. Thank you in advance for your help to expand college access. If you have any questions or would like more details, please email discover@swarthmore.edu.
Sincerely,
Swarthmore Admissions Office
P.S. In case you’re not familiar with Swarthmore, we are a selective liberal arts and engineering college, located just outside of Philadelphia — it’s about a 25-minute train ride from campus to downtown Philly. We have about 1,689 students, and nearly 75% of our classes have fewer than 20 students, allowing faculty to provide personalized support and instruction. Swarthmore offers need-based financial aid that meets 100% of determined need with loan-free financial aid decisions. Visit our website to learn more about Swarthmore's commitments to affordability and access.
