Talented Musical Theatre is an advanced course designed to dig deeper into the world of theatre. This course is available for students in the Talented Music and/or Talented Theatre program. Students will gain performance experience through monologues, scene work, improvisation, choreography, analysis, voice, and history as we explore the origins of theatre throughout each unit.

Training

The first semester in this class is dedicated to helping our young actors continue to grow in their confidence and abilities as they pursue their passion. Our training slightly differs from year to year to help prepare our students for our production, however in this class acting, music, and dance are always a staple.

This year students will received training in classical vocal technique, acting methods for musicals, as well as techniques used in different dance styles. Our faculty have been hard at work preparing for and awesome school year!

Production

Travel back to the Renaissance for an hour of musical comedy gold in "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years"!

In the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Students must audition for placement into this performance based class.

They must also have a valid Talented Theatre IEP and/or Talented Music IEP in order to be enrolled in the Talented Musical Theatre Class.
