This class is an advanced course designed to dig deeper into the world of theatre. This course is available for students in the Talented Theatre program with a valid Theatre IEP. Students will gain performance experience through scene work, improvisation, analysis, voice, history and technical theatre.
The first semester in this class is all about the production process!
We jump right into a show prep and get to experience all aspects of putting on a production. The second semester is dedicated to helping our young actors continue to grow in their confidence and abilities as they pursue their passion. With an introduction into technical theatre, our goal it to help our students become well rounded and experience each aspect of the production process.
A hit off-Broadway play enjoyed by people all over the world!
For seven years a certain boy wizard went to Wizard School. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs… who just happened to be there too. A play for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. “An alternative narrative for the underdog” (Wall Street Journal).
Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic is a Potter-inspired comedy written by Matt Cox. It's a show for anyone who has ever felt like a secondary character in someone else’s story. The play that “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) gives you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three new heroes just trying to make it through magic school. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal rejects with a thing for badgers "who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.
