Leadership Johnson County Youth Academy Recruitment 2020-21 Class

Greetings!

Thank you for your support to the Franklin College Youth Leadership Academy! The current class of 36 members has reached the half-way point of their program and they are amazing! We are so pleased and truly impressed with the Center Grove High School students. They have chosen a class project to build a rock garden at Independence Park. They are currently in the process of budgeting and fundraising as well as collaborating with other community groups for a final project unveiling at the park on April 11th. Their final class program days are scheduled for February 18 and April 21. The graduation ceremony will take place on April 28th – more information will come on this.

In addition to celebrating our current class, the recruitment process has begun for next year’s class! The application can be found here at https://www.leadershipjohnsoncounty.org/johnson-county-youth-leadership-academy. This program is open to ANY student that lives in Johnson County and will be a Junior or Senior next school year.

The goal of the Task Force is to select 30-35 participants to be in the Class of 2020-2021 from all public and private high schools across Johnson County. As they make selections, they are always looking at diversity in all areas including: age, gender, race, geographic location, school, etc. The deadline for applications is 11:59 pm on March 15, 2020. Applications must be submitted electronically. A separate scholarship application is available upon request as well as on the website. In addition to the scholarship application, the Johnson County Community Foundation has given funds to all Education Foundations to help off-set their students’ tuition fees!

A student in our current class made the following recruitment video: https://youtu.be/xlUTRTFt4M0. Please feel free to pass this video along to others.

If you have questions about the program, please contact me at akelsay@franklincollege.edu. Thank you for your help in recruiting the 2nd class of the Youth Leadership Academy!
