En el curso 2020/2021, el equipo docente decidimos trabajar un proyecto de centro cuyo tema iba a ser “Nuestro pueblo”. Con él, se pretendía conocer Cella en todas sus vertientes: historia, monumentos, sitios y lugares emblemáticos, calles, personajes ilustres, tradiciones y productos típicos que crecen en sus tierras, entre ellos, la famosa “patata de Cella”. 

In the 2020/2021 academic year, the teaching team decided to work on a school project whose theme was going to be “Our town”. With it, we wanted to know Cella in all its aspects: history, monuments, emblematic sites and places, streets, illustrious characters, traditions and typical products that grow in its lands, among them, the famous “Cella potato”. 

Fue entonces cuando nos planteamos la posibilidad de montar un “Huerto escolar” para que nuestro alumnado pudiese ver, participar, experimentar, manipular, cuidar y aprender todo el proceso de crecimiento de la patata y de otros productos como: cebollas, lechugas, espinacas, zanahorias, fresas y plantas aromáticas.

It was then that we considered the possibility of setting up a “School Garden” so that our students could see, participate, experiment, manipulate, care for and learn the whole process of growing potatoes and other products such as onions, lettuce, spinach, carrots, strawberries and aromatic plants.

Fue entonces cuando nos planteamos la posibilidad de montar un “Huerto escolar” para que nuestro alumnado pudiese ver, participar, experimentar, manipular, cuidar y aprender todo el proceso de crecimiento de la patata y de otros productos como: cebollas, lechugas, espinacas, zanahorias, fresas y plantas aromáticas.

It was then that we considered the possibility of setting up a “School Garden” so that our students could see, participate, experiment, manipulate, care for and learn the whole process of growing potatoes and other products such as onions, lettuce, spinach, carrots, strawberries and aromatic plants.

Creemos que en el huerto escolar el alumnado puede aplicar lo que ha leído y aprendido con ayuda de los libros y observar de primera mano cómo se desarrollan los procesos naturales contribuyendo a realizar aprendizajes más significativos. Igualmente, facilitará el acceso a alimentos frescos y animará al consumo de los mismos, contribuyendo así a fomentar en nuestro alumnado una vida más saludable y de mejor calidad.

We believe that in the school garden students can apply what they have read and learned with the help of books and observe firsthand how natural processes develop, contributing to more meaningful learning. Likewise, it will facilitate access to fresh food and encourage the consumption of the same, thus contributing to promote a healthier and better quality life in our students.

Para llevar a cabo nuestros fines, contamos con la colaboración del Ayuntamiento, al cual le debemos el montaje de la infraestructura (acotamiento de espacio, suministro de tierra, acceso fácil de riego). Asimismo, hemos contado con la inestimable ayuda de nuestros abuelos/as y familias que se ofrecieron de forma desinteresada a colaborar, guiarnos y enseñarnos, tanto al alumnado como al profesorado:  a cómo realizar las labores agrícolas, a preparar la tierra, a abonar, a sembrar, a regar, ... Por todo ello, deseamos y necesitamos que sigan guiando y supervisando nuestro trabajo en el huerto porque está siendo una experiencia muy motivadora y gratificante para todos: alumnado, profesorado y familias.

In order to carry out our goals, we have the collaboration of the City Council, to whom we owe the installation of the infrastructure (space limitation, land supply, easy access for irrigation). Likewise, we have had the invaluable help of our grandparents and families who have selflessly offered to collaborate, guide and teach us, both students and teachers: how to carry out agricultural work, how to prepare the land, fertilize, sow, irrigate, .... Therefore, we want and need them to continue guiding and supervising our work in the garden because it is being a very motivating and rewarding experience for everyone: students, teachers and families.
