My Idea for my mixed media portrait was to incorporate some type of flower, and it make it really messy to symbolize that not all art has to be super neat and clean. I wanted to add a bunch of different patterns into one. To do this i flipped through tons and tons of magazines. I ripped out the back round first from a art magazine and i used mod podge to stick it down. After that I went into another magazine and cut out this mans face. Im not sure who he is but I knew I could do a lot with it. The I cut out some orange tulips and made him a pair of sun glasses because I did not like the glasses he had on before. Then I didnt like that the top of his head was flat so i used another tulip to make him a nice hat. After that i decided that the drawing was too bland so i cut out a bunch of letters in magazines to spell out the quote I found on google "Artists are here to disturb the peace." and I just thought that the quote fit the drawing so well. The i used mod podge to stick it all down and then put a layer of mod podge on the top of it. I think that the art work symbolizes that not all art has to be perfect and neat but that it can be messy and fun and sometime maybe a little disturbing. During this process the part that was most difficult for me was smoothing out the newspaper peices. but then I thought maybe the bubbles will add texture to it so I just left it. The art style is abstract and I love that there is so much going on yet there isnt. I love that it really fits the quote.
