I got the idea when my teacher showed us how to make them during class. First I grabbed a big slab of clay and i pressed it into the coil press machine, making a huge, long coil. Then i folded the coil on top of itself to make the pumpkin shape, smoothing the bumps every few layers. Once that was done I Closed it off and attached the rest of the coil to the top, making a stem. Then with my hands and the needle tool and a sponge i created a leaf. After that was all done i used a knife to cute a hole in the bottom and my teacher put it in the kiln. After that I glazed it and put it back in the kiln. This project was very difficult. It was difficult for me to get all of the bumps smooth and not make it not too thin. I overcame the struggles by smoothing over and over again. If i were to start over i would make it thicker and smooth down the bottom more.
