Grant Gregoire, Skyline
9x12, Graphite, Marker, Sharpie on paper, 2021
How I came up with this idea was I was looking at the city I wanted to do, then I thought of the arch in St. Louis, so I decided to do it because I was going to go to a St.Louis vs Chicago Cubs game but I got sick and I wasn’t able to go. Some tools I used for this project were Graphite, Marker, Sharpie, and also a shading tool. This artwork means to me that I was going to go to a Cubs vs Cardinals game with my dad's side of the family because half of them are Cubs fans and the other side are Cardinals fans. I want the audience to know that it is St.Louis because of the Arch in the background because people only know St.Louis of the Arch behind Busch Stadium. The most difficult part in the project was probably the skyscrapers because making the windows was the hardest part because you had to make them look like windows and they have to be a straight line. I overcame the windows by using a ruler to help me with the straight line. I would change the project to a new city. It would be probably New York because I could put the Statue Of LIberty in the background. My project is realistic because it is a city, it is unique because it reminds me of my dad's side family.
