Research has long shown that students in classrooms where behavior is poorly managed receive less academic instruction and are more likely to have long-term academic, behavioral, and social problems than students in well-managed classrooms. By contrast, research also demonstrates that teachers who have well-managed classrooms achieve this because they consistently attend to five elements of classroom management and five elements of effective instruction. This Playbook is intended to clarify what each element looks like so that teachers may be as effective as possible in managing their classrooms and planning and delivering instruction.
