Eclipse Ball Rules

A combination of volleyball, badminton, and tennis!

Serving- Rally Scoring is Used

• Rock, paper, scissors to see which team serves 1^st
• All serves must be underhand with the ball bouncing before contact with the paddle
• The ball may hit the net on a serve
• The serve may not be helped over by a teammate
• The serve may not hit the ceiling, walls, bleachers, volleyball poles, or the curtain. It must be a “clean serve”.

Game Expectations-

• The racket string must be around your wrist at all times
• Hit the ball with your racket in a controlled manner
• Do not catch and throw the ball
• Do not kick the ball
• The ball may bounce 1 time between hits
• There are unlimited # of hits per side
• A player may not hit the ball 2X in a row
• Players may not touch the net or go under the net
• Game is played to 21 points or time limit
• If the ball gets stuck in the bleachers, take it out, bounce it, and continue playing
• If the ball goes past the curtain, go get it, bounce it, and continue playing
• The ceiling is always out! (The white part)
• The basketball backboard, rim, walls, and curtain are all in play AFTER the serve
• When giving the ball to the other team, ROLL it under the net. This will eliminate confusion over whether to play the ball or not.

Past Issues-

• Failure to keep score
• Ball hogs
• People not participating
• People relying on others to participate around them
• People not moving to the ball and just standing and waiting for the ball to come to them

Points are awarded when-

• The ball hits the white part of the ceiling
• The ball goes under the net
• The ball bounces 2 times (double bounce)
• A player uses anything except racket to hit the ball
• The a team loses the serve (Rally Scoring)
