First big project of the year! Continuing my passion for video making, I decided to edit another YouTube style video of gameplay. This time I wanted to switch it up a bit and not only change the game, but incorporate more people into the video to not only make it more interesting more interesting, but more enjoyable to watch.
Before I was limited on what games I could play because I had to play from my PC because that was the only way that I could capture the gameplay as well as the audio. With this already limiting factor I was then limited down to only one game because it was the only one I was able to play with a friend. This was not too bad because it was a great game and can make enjoyable content from it, but I really wanted to try something new. I did some research and found out that there was really no way of getting the gameplay and audio from my game console captured without an external recording/capture system which I do not have. Even though this was the case I was still determined to find another method so I would be able to play from my Xbox. This is when I began looking through the Xbox app.
I remembered hearing a while ago about a connection system between the Xbox app on windows 10 and the Xbox one gaming console. I went down to the connections tab and found where I was able to link my Xbox to the app. I turned it on and got it all connected and set up. From here I went to see what was offered when connected. This is where I found exactly what I needed. There was an option to remotely stream your Xbox gameplay to the Xbox app. This was perfect because I could stream to my PC and use the recording software that I have there.
Unfortunately there was one last problem. I still had the issue with capturing the audio of my friends and I while we play. Streaming the game to my PC did not include party chat audio. This is where another part of the app came in handy. I was able to join the Xbox party on the PC and I was finally able to record not just the gameplay, but also our audio.
Now that I've explained the process and how I got everything setup and working, I can now talk about the video. I tried doing a mix of things with the content I got. Since I was with 3 of my friends there were a lot of funny moments and dialogue between us. I knew this would be the case so I tried to go with a more comedic approach to the video. The idea was that it would be enjoyable to watch because the gameplay and interactions were funny. I also decided to include a clip at the end that incorporates more of the pure gameplay aspect into the video that way it gives viewers a little break from the pure messing around and lets them see something more enjoyable to watch for the pure gameplay. Though there were some funny things incorporated it was mainly meant to be a video closer and to finish it off with my friends rage quitting. I think it fit well with the theme of the video and the chaotic nature of it. Hopefully with all the different aspects I tried to incorporate, anyone who is interested in watching can find something they enjoyed in the video.
