For this project I decided to follow up on my last YouTube video I created a few months ago. I wanted to keep making videos and gain experience working with premiere pro and making YouTube content. For this video I chose to play the same game Sea of Thieves, with my friend who was featured in the last video. Contrary to the last video we tried to incorporate more humor and we messed around a lot more instead of explaining the game and completing specific tasks. The intro of the video took a decent amount of time and I tried to learn new techniques in premiere pro. It ended up looking great and throws off the viewers expectations for what kind of a video it is. The mood quickly goes from ominous to a lighthearted comedic one. I decided to incorporate a lot more external edits and references into this video and it is meant to appeal to the audience of teenagers who play the game. Although some of the references may not be understood by all, I tried to keep them as simple and as funny as I could. We had a great time playing the game, but I had an even better time editing the footage because I was able to get creative and incorporate a bunch of my ideas into the video.
On the more technical side of things, for this video I learned various new methods of how to make quick edits of text, animated text, and how to overlay videos. The first thing that can be seen is the typewriter effect with the opening text. I thought this would be a nice touch and it took a decent amount of time as well as trial and error to execute. Throughout the video I also decided to try and do various zooms and overlay pictures onto the video. A few of them were blended and some were just stuck on the screen depending on the context. I also did something very similar with audio by incorporating music or dialogue at different comedic moments. All in all I had a great time making this video. I was able to learn new techniques and I got better at the ones I already knew. I am planning to continue making and getting better at these kinds of game play videos and possibly upload them onto a future YouTube channel.
