Art fires the imagination and is an organic means of personal expression. It encourages us to observe the world around us and gain access to cultural richness and diversity. The purpose of the Art and Design GCSE is to give students the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas and experiences in a visual or tactile form. Students develop life skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, perseverance and resilience. Studying art provides the opportunity to be creative in an environment where the boundaries to explore are endless.
