How to set Outlook system as POP to receive NCKU Mail 2.0?

  • Following is the example of Office 365 outlook


1. Start the Windows control panel.

2. Click the " Large icon ".

3. Start the Mail(Microsoft Outlook 2016).

4. Click "Email Account".

5. Click "Add"

6. Click “ Manual setup or additional server types ”, and then click “ Next ”.

7. Select “ POP or IMAP(P) ” and then click “ Next ”

8. Select account type as POP

9. (1) Enter account information:

  • Enter user’s name and email address

  • For account type choose “ POP3 ”

  • Enter “ ncku.edu.tw ” for both the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.

  • Enter your user name and password

(2) Click “ More Settings ”. A new “ Internet E-mail Settings ” window appears.

(3) Choose the “ Outgoing Server ”, check “ My outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication ” and make sure “ Use same settings as my incoming mail server ” is selected.

(4) Click the “ Advanced ” .

  • Incoming Server: Check the checkbox for “ This server requires an encrypted connection(SSL) ”and the port number should be 995. If users don’t use SSL setting the port is 110.

  • Outgoing Server: Set “ Use the following type of encrypted connection ” to SSL, and the port number is 587. If users don’t use SSL setting the port is 25.

  • Check the checkbox for “ Leave a copy of messages on the server ” and set “ Remove from server after 60 days ”

  • Click “ OK ” to close the “ Internet E-mail Settings ” window

(5) Click “ Next ”. Outlook should tell users that all tests completed successfully. If Outlook tells users a test failed, please double-check to be sure you’ve entered the user name and password correctly.

(6) Click “ Finish ” then the setting process is completed.
