**These clubs do not meet during Roughie Rush.**
For this club, the officers meet every other Wednesday during Roughie block. In these meetings we discuss topics such as fundraising for prom, planning for hallway decorating, and getting ready for lip sync. Hallway decorating takes place leading up to the Turkey Day Game. Lip Sync and Spirit Week take place in the spring. We need as many students as possible to participate in the activities and fundraising!
Hallway Decoration takes place around Thanksgiving before the Turkey Day game. All four grade levels pick a theme for their hallway and create decorations for it. It is required that the grade levels make a football field with senior players, cheerleaders, and band members. You also make two door signs that go in the front of the school and a banner that can represent your theme. As shown above, this was the Juniors’ football field for last Thanksgiving. The theme was The Nightmare Before Christmas. Hallway decorating is a lot of fun and enables you to display your creativity. It can be quite competitive between the grade levels, but overall is very enjoyable to partake in. We need as many members as possible to join in and help us with Hallway Decorating so that we can receive points for Spirit Day. If you want to win Spirit Day it is crucial that you join and partake in this event.
Spirit Week Games: Spirit week games consist of students signing up for different events. The students of each grade play each other. For example, a group of seniors will play a group of sophomores, and so on. Each game will get played by a combination of all the teams to see who the champion is. The more you win, the more points you will receive towards your total points. Spirit week games are a great way to come together with your classmates and cheer each other on for the common goal of winning spirit week.
Fundraisers: Fundraisers are important because we need money for prom. All of the fundraising money goes towards a prom venue, a DJ, decorations, and more. The more money we raise, the nicer decorations and venue we can have. Any money that we can’t raise during fundraising has to come from ticket sales. Therefore, the more money we make through fundraisers, the less the prom tickets will cost.
