School Nutrition Services
Parents and Student Meal Information Effective September 1, 2020
Effective Tuesday, September 1, 2020 the School Nutrition Program will no longer operate under the Summer Food Service Program (meals served at no cost) and meals will be charged based on the students’ eligibility status.
Meal Prices
Grades K-8 Paid Students Only
Breakfast $1.35
Lunch $2.80
Grades 9-12 Paid Students Only
Breakfast $1.35
Lunch $2.90
For School Year 2020-21, a federal grant has been awarded to families receiving reduced priced meals.
There will be no cost for meals to students with a reduced price meal status.
Universal Breakfast
Universal Breakfast will resume on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.
Universal Breakfast is offered at the schools listed below.
High Schools: Bunker Hill, Catawba Rosenwald
Middle Schools: HM Arndt, River Bend,
Elementary Schools: Snow Creek, Oxford, Balls Creek, Claremont, Banoak, Clyde Campbell, Blackburn, Lyle Creek, Startown, Maiden Elem., Webb Murray, Catawba, Mt. View
Meal Applications
Free and Reduced meal applications for school year 2020-2021 are now being accepted. Families that received free or reduced meal benefits last school year will have benefits extended until September 18, 2020 for Challenger Early College students and September 28, 2020 for all other Catawba County students. Applications may be completed on line at www.LunchApplication.com or you may pick an application up at your child’s school cafeteria.
Curbside Service
Curbside service is for the sole purpose of providing students meals on academic days that they are studying remotely. At curbside service, families picking up meals for students with a paying meal status, must have money on account or cash or check to pay for meals at the time of service. K-8 meal prices; breakfast $1.35 and lunch $2.80. 9-12 meal prices; breakfast $1.35 and lunch $2.90.
AA Attendance days on Monday and Tuesday
- Breakfast and lunch will be served during the school day
- Tuesday Curbside Service
- Curbside service will be offered for three (3) days students study remotely. Curbside service is on Tuesday from 8:30 – 10:00 am and 5:00 – 6:00 pm
- Curbside meals must be picked up from the school student is enrolled in
- Curbside available to Challenger students for three (3) days remote learning and is picked up at Startown Elementary from 8:30 -10:00 am and 5:00-6:00 pm
- Student identification (meal number) is needed at time of pick up
- Students with a paying meal status must pay for meal at time of pickup with cash or check or have money on account
BB Attendance days on Wednesday and Thursday
- Breakfast and lunch will be served during the school day
- Thursday Curbside Service
- Curbside service will be offered for three (3) days students study remotely. Curbside service available from 8:30 – 10:00 am and 5:00 – 6:00 pm
- Curbside meals must be picked up from school student is enrolled in
- Curbside available to Challenger students for three (3) days remote learning and is picked up at Startown Elementary from 8:30 -10:00 am and 5:00 – 6:00 pm
- Curbside service available to Kindergarten and 1st graders for one (1) day studying remotely
- Curbside service available to Rosenwald students and is picked up at Catawba Elementary from 8:30 – 10 am and 5:00 – 6:00 pm
- Student identification (meal number) is needed at time of pick up
- Students with a paying meal status must pay for meal at time of pickup with cash or check or have money on account
100% Remote Learners
- Curbside Service on Tuesdays only
- Curbside service will be offered for five (5) days students study remotely. Curbside service available from 8:30 – 10:00 am
- Curbside meals must be picked up from school student is enrolled in
- Student identification (meal number) is needed at time of pick up
- Students with a paying meal status must pay for meal at time of pickup with cash or check or have money on account
QUEST Program
- QUEST students enrolled in Catawba County Schools and attending the all day program may eat breakfast and lunch.
- Only one breakfast and one lunch meal may be claimed per day
- Meals must be paid for by any child eating while enrolled in this program.

- Grades 9-12 meal prices; breakfast $1.35 and lunch $2.90.
Childcare in Schools
- Students attending the child care program offered at the school by Catawba County personnel, may eat breakfast and lunch if they are school age children
- Meals must be paid for by any child eating while enrolled in this program.
