CATIE KALE 

SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Ms. Kale started at Challenger during the 2018-19 school year.  She has worked for Catawba County Schools since 2008 as a School Counselor, serving Catawba Rosenwald Education Center & ESTEEM, as well as Bandys High School.  She is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a MA in School Counseling.

ERICKAH THAO

 SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Ms. Thao started at Challenger during the 2022-23 school year. This is her second year with Catawba County Schools. Previously she served Davie County High School as a School Counselor. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University with her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Salem College with her M.A. in School Counseling. 

JESSICA GUYER

STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATOR

Ms. JGuyer started at Challenger during the 2013-14 school year.  She has worked at Challenger since 2013 teaching Honors English II.  During the 2025-2026 school year she started in a new role as the Student Success Coordinator.  She is a graduate of UNC Asheville with her Bachelor Degree in English Literature and of Gardner Webb University with her Master's Degree in Executive Leadership.  Ms. JGuyer is also an alumni of Challenger Early College!  

KELLY MOZGALA

 SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

Ms. Mozgala started at Challenger during the 2018-19 school year.  She has worked for Catawba County Schools since 2003 as a school social worker, serving Catawba Rosenwald Education Center & ESTEEM and Murray Elementary.  She is a graduate of Appalachian State University with her Bachelor Degree in Social Work.
