Whenever the spoil board is surfaced or replaced, the external shift must be reset in order to ensure machining accuracy.
Switch to the quarter-inch end mill (T1)
Use MDI to touch off T1
Use MDI to turn on the spindle to 2000 RPM
Select [MDI]
Click [MONITOR]
Click [MDI INPUT]
Type M03 S2000
Click [OK] then [Cycle Start]
Select [MAIN]
Click [BRUSH UP]
Turn the Vacuum on
Switch to [JOG] or [MPG] and slowly approach the spoil board until it is barely touching
Movements in X or Y can confirm contact with the spoil board
Select [OFFSET SETTINGS] then [TOOL SET]
Subtract the Length(H) Geometry of Tool 1 from the Machine Z Value
Use the [<<] button to return to the [OFFSET SETTINGS]
Enter the calculated value into the Z value for External Shift
To confirm the Z offset was correctly set use [MDI] to first Turn Off the Spindle (M05), then Execute the following lines of code:
G54 G90
G01 X0. Y0. Z1. F25.
At this point, the quarter-inch End Mill should be 1 inch above the spoil board
7. Switch to [JOG] or [MPG] and slowly approach the spoil board until it is barely touching
9. Subtract the Length(H) Geometry of Tool 1 from the Machine Z Value
11. Enter the calculated value into the Z value for External Shift
