Junior

Honors

College Board's National African American Recognition Program

NHS

1) I have been in the GATE program since 3rd grade.

2) In school, I am involved in musical, play, choir and show choir, Cougarettes, and NHS. Outside of school, I do competition dance.

3) My favorite teacher is Mrs. Badger and she teaches my favorite class: chemistry.

4) I am inspired the most by my brother (Austin).

5) The GATE program has helped me with discipline as it has set goals for me to strive for and later achieve. It challenges my academics and line of thinking through field trips and interactions with others.

6) If I was stranded on a desert island, I would choose to be with my brother, Austin, and my Uncle Jake because they are both very calm and strategic people.

7) I would tell younger students in the GATE program to take advantage of the opportunities given and of their intellectual ability, for it is an honor to be in the program and be recognized as a gifted student.

Honors:

All State French Horn and Wind Ensemble

All Section - Baseball - 1st Basemen

Future Plans: 4 year University for Math or Stats Degree

1.  I've been a part of the GATE program since the spring of 2nd grade, so that would make it almost 10 years.

2.  In terms of extracurriculars, I'm involved with the marching band, concert band, National Honors Society, as well as the varsity baseball team.  Furthermore, I have auditioned and performed for the PMEA festival bands throughout high school, even making it to the all-state level last year as a member of the french horn section of the wind ensemble.

3. My favorite teacher would probably have to be Mr. Kozy and my favorite class is Statistics, which Mr. Kozy teaches.  I've had Mr. Kozy for multiple years--and he teaches one of my favorite subjects--so I enjoy his classes the most not only because of that but also because I never find myself bored in his room, whether we're just working on worksheet or if he's going through the notes (which tend to be very entertaining).

4.  I believe that my mom has inspired me the most.  While she is literally my mom, I think she inspires me more by never failing to tell me the truth, whether I would like to hear it or not.  In other words, she never ceases to motivate or guide me through high school life.

5.  The GATE program has given me access not only to a wealth of engaging opportunities and competitions--like battery car, Westinghouse Science Honors Institute, and Envirothon--but also to adults that advocate for me extensively.  For example, I would likely never have been able to be accelerated a year without the help of the GATE program and my GIEP.  To add, the program has exposed me to so many areas of academic progress, which has allowed me to really refine what exactly I would like to do with the rest of my life.

6.  If I were stranded on a desert island, I'd choose Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart to be stranded alongside me.  I think that--with those two--I'd spend so much time laughing that I'd completely forget that I was actually stranded.

7.  If I had to give one piece of advice to younger students, I'd say to try everything until you find what you like to do.  It's different for everybody, so definitely don't be afraid if nobody else does it like you do.  After that, I would say to really focus and motivate yourself in an effort to become really proficient at that thing (but not so obsessed that you forget everything else).  If you give everything you have to it, then you might just find yourself becoming the best at it.
