Often, creating a video will not require a large amount of prep time to get ready for it. You can bring up the screen you want to show your students, hook up you mic and start recording. This will likely be your method if you want to record a SmartBoard lesson while you teach it to your class.
Sometimes, however, you will want a really clean, very organized recording. This will be the case if you are seriously limited on time in your video or if you are not particularly good at deciding what to say as you record. If you find yourself using a lot of filler words like uhh, um, like... as you record, you may want to look at using the Scripted Video option. The scripted option is also really good for setting up captions in your videos for those who might have a hearing impairment.
