English 11 Honors/ECE Course Description: Mrs. Connole

Honors English 11 is a survey of American literature designed to enrich and expand the study of American time periods, issues, and events. Texts include classics such as A Mercy, The Crucible, The Great Gatsby, The Grapes of Wrath, along with selected contemporary fiction and nonfiction and a variety of essays, speeches, short stories and poetry. Emphasis is on analysis and argument. In particular, students will be using the texts they encounter in this course, along with their own research, to develop an inquiry question that is of central importance to their own understanding of America, specifically the American identity.

English 11 Honors is approved for freshman English college credit (4 semester credit hours at a cost of $25 per credit hour) through The University of Connecticut Early College Experience. These credits are transferable to most colleges and universities throughout the country.
