Amazon and Deliveroo aren’t the only ways to get deliveries! There are lots of small local companies offering a great service all over the country.
Amy will have another tempting recipe for us later in the week - but where to get those seasonal veggies without venturing out during lockdown and beyond?
Here are some suggestions for here in Cambridgeshire - of course there are lots of other suppliers, farm shops and market stall, these are just a few ideas.
Cambridge Organic Food collects produce from lots of organic farms in the local area.
They pack their veg boxes in Haslingfield just outside Cambridge, and deliver them to homes in Cambridge and the villages and surrounding towns.
The good news is they are taking new members for vegetable (and fruit) delivery - I’ve signed up today and will be getting my first fortnightly delivery of a mixed fruit and veg box on Thursday!
Another option is Waterland Organics, a small family run organic vegetable and fruit production business operating from a little farm in the fen. As well as selling wholesale they also run a vegetable box scheme delivering by bike in and around Cambridge.
Their Winter Warmer box will be available in January and is open for sale now!
G and M’s Fruit and Veg have a stall in Cambridge Market 6 days a week if you can get there but if not they also do deliveries and stock a wide range of both locally sourced and more exotic products. To find out about deliveries contact Gemma Bastick Gemma_bastick@hotmail.com
What about giving a home to all those misfits that are rejected by the supermarkets!
Oddbox seems to be filling this niche - we haven't tried it out yet but it seems like a good idea! The products may not be organic or locally grown but if they are saved from going to waste that's surely a good thing and they have some facts and figuresto back up their claims to be having a positive impact on CO2 emissions and water use!
