This video demonstrates how natural harmonics work, and why they work. I would like to develop my part in shes time and learn how to properly use natural harmonics. This video goes into depth on how natural harmonics work and how to implement them. I can use this research to find a better use for my natural harmonics in the intro.
After interim, we decided to change she's time, as the song was not really sticking with us.
We were all present during this rehearsal. Our main focus was to change the whole songs structure and overall change the sound. We can hear that the song has completely changed form, it now follows a new pattern and now includes a bass intro, which in my attention is a hook that reels the listener in before the song drops into a heavier progression. The progression sounds way better than it did from exploration and is an instant improvement. My research into swirlies really inspired me to create this structure and tone and I think that it suits the song very well, theres more of a punch to the song. Moving forward, we will finish recording the rest of the song in its entirety and finished structure. In my opinion, it was a good idea to change the song structure entirely, as it was lacking dynamic change before, and now its great. I have also implemented my research into this new and improved Shes Time as at 0:26 you can faintly hear my use of natural harmonics.
Our main focus for this rehearsal was to finalise Anomia. My goal however was to develop a better and improved tone. At 0:38 my guitar can be heard providing this wash over the song which was very effective in my opinion. I recently found myself listening to a lot of Title Fight, and in their album "Hyperview" they have this shoegaze-y tone throughout the whole album which has inspired me to replicate it. In other senses, this rehearsal and discovery of tone has significantly improved the texture of the song.
At 2:31 you can see exactly where I got my inspiration from. There is this beautiful tone that I have tried to replicate. The reason I did so was because this album actually has some shoegaze elements, and in my opinion it suited the song very well.
This is a video log of me explaining the tone that I use in Anomia. I also go into detail on why this was my choice of tone. At 0:57 the tone is showcased and at 0:38 I demonstrate exactly whats going on down at the pedalboard.
This video is a 101 of how flanger works. This is an effect ive been thinking about using in our cover of the song safe and sound. Flanger works by delaying the sound slightly and then altering the delay time while you play. Effects like this can be very unique in Shoegaze, so that is why im going to implement this into my own work.
This video is a 3 minute log of me going into detail of the effects I use during Safe and Sound. I go over important details and how everything came about. I was not really sure what to do at first so in shoegaze fashion I experimented with different effects and this was the first thing that came to me which ended up working quite well.
