Students in grades 6 through 12: You may place stickers on the lid of your chromebook. This is the area "behind" the screen when it is opened or the "top" of the computer when it is closed. You may only place stickers in this area.
You may only use flat, non-scented stickers. Do not use puffy, "bedazzled," scented, or objectionable stickers. We reserve the right to remove and/or discard any decorations which violate these restrictions. Note that stickers which are not flat can cause uneven pressure on the computer, increasing the chances of a cracked screen or chassis.
Keep in mind that when repairing or cleaning the computer, your stickers may be damaged or removed. We will do our best to keep them intact, but sometimes it can't be avoided. Likewise, if we need to replace your chromebook for any reason, you may lose your stickers. Therefore, we recommend not using any expensive stickers or stickers with sentimental value.
You can pick a custom photo to appear under all of the windows on your chromebook. When they're all closed or minimized, you'll see the photo. It is also visible at the login screen, when you click on your name. This is sometimes called "wallpaper." To personalize your background wallpaper, follow these directions.
You can add a lot of new features to your chromebook with apps, extensions, and themes from the Chrome Web Store. Despite the word "Store" in the name, nearly everything is actually free.
Apps are just like the apps on an iPhone. They provide new programs that you can run.
Extensions can modify the way the chromebook's existing features behave. For example, they can block advertising or let you draw on top of web pages.
Themes change the colors and background images on the chromebook. Unfortunately, many themes include components which spy on students. As a result, we are not able to make these available. However, you can still customize your chromebook by opening a new tab and clicking "Customize" in the lower-right corner. This will allow you to pick a color theme and background image.
If you are experiencing bad battery life, crashes, or more ads than usual, the most common cause is one or more bad extensions. You can test this by removing any extensions you're not using these directions. When in doubt, contact technical support and they can help.
