All students are required to audition for this class, consisting of material from the All State Orchestra repertoire or equivalent.
Freshmen are only considered if they are working on major concertos, know all their 3 octave scales, and demonstrate mature musicianship.
Students in this class are also required to either audition for All State Orchestra, Western States Honor Orchestra, or play in the Fall Musical Pit.
100% of students in this class are enrolled in private lessons.
Our focus is playing professional-level repertoire, the highest individual responsibility, and rehearsing and performing at a collegiate/professional level.
Students perform in five concerts per year, a small ensemble project, full orchestra at least once a year, participation in our annual tour to local middle schools, and performance at CASTA Regional and State Festivals.
The orchestra is entered every other year into National competitions, with performances held across the country.
Students are also eligible for a field trip every year either in-state or out-of-state.
