Meet the Director

Lee Anderson is the Director of Orchestras at Fairview High School in Boulder, CO. Since arriving at Fairview in 2021, his orchestras have consistently received Superior ratings at the Colorado ASTA Large Group Regional and State festivals every year. Under his baton, the Fairview Chamber Orchestra was recently invited to perform at the 2027 Colorado Music Educator Association conference for the 11th time in Fairview's history. In 2024, Mr. Anderson and the Fairview Chamber Orchestra were invited to perform at the National Orchestra Festival in Louisville, Kentucky where they were honored with a 3rd place finish. The Chamber Orchestra also performed as one of four nationally invited string orchestras at the 2025 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Anderson keeps an active performing schedule as a professional violist and conductor. He conducts the Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO) String Ensemble and Allegro Strings, and has guest conducted numerous All-Region orchestras in Colorado and in surrounding states. He performs regularly in the viola section of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, and he has also served as substitute violist for the Louisville Orchestra and Houston Grand Opera.

Mr. Anderson received a Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance, and Master of Music in Viola Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where his principal instructors were Stephen Wyrczynski, Ed Gazouleas, and Brenda Brenner. When not in the orchestra classroom or on the performance stage, he enjoys hiking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his wife Aspen and son Theo, and their pets Max and Clara.
