About the FHS Orchestras

The Fairview Orchestra program is a microcosm of the Fairview High School student body that includes student leaders, academic leaders, and student athletes. Many of our students have distinguished themselves through selection to all-state groups, college scholarships, and concerto competitions.

Performance opportunities beyond our 5 scheduled concerts include Pit Orchestra, Full Orchestra, District Honor Orchestra, Western States Honor Orchestra, and All State Orchestra.

Students in orchestra have the opportunity to travel in-state or out-of-state every year. Recent travel includes Disney World, Winter Park, Chicago, and local trips to see the Colorado Symphony and Boulder Philharmonic. We offer social events throughout the year, including a fall potluck, an end of semester ice skating meetup, and end-of-year banquet.

The Fairview Orchestra has been selected 11 times to represent BVSD at the state music teacher convention (CMEA) at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. They perform four major concerts per year as a large ensemble, and smaller chamber groups perform for many other functions as well. In 2024, the Chamber Orchestra performed at the ASTA National String Conference in Louisville, KY and won 3rd place. Most recently, they performed at the 2025 Midwest Clinic in Chicago as one of 4 nationally invited orchestras.
