FHS Orchestra Costs
Uniform = $75 (One time cost for all new students)
Annual Sectional Coaches and Guest Artists = $150
BVSD Instrument Rentals
$50 for the school year for students who have their own instrument at home.
$100 for the school year for students who will use a BVSD instrument at home.
$50 for rental of instruments over the summer.
Grading Categories
Grading Categories
Daily Grade: 25%
Each regular class is worth 5 points. Each block class is worth 10 points. Being tardy, absent, missing materials, or not giving best effort reduces the amount of points given.
Students absent with an excused absence will not receive a point deduction.
Formative: 35%
Playing Quizzes, Written Reflections, Music Theory/History Assignments
Students can redo assignments in this category.
Summative: 40%
Concerts, Small Ensemble Projects, Playing Tests
Students can redo some assignments in this category.
If a student misses a concert due to illness or pre-arranged absence, the concert may be made-up for full credit with an assignment assigned by the instructor. If a student misses a concert due to negligence (unexcused absence), the concert may not be made up for full credit.
